Organizations running mentorship programs were pairing people by hand from spreadsheets. Matching quality depended on whoever was doing it, and there was no visibility into whether relationships were active.
A bad match is worse than no match — people disengage and the program loses credibility. The platform needed to make pairing consistent and explainable, then keep the relationship alive after the introduction with scheduling, messaging and light accountability.
Our approach
- 1Built a custom matching algorithm scoring shared interests, skills, goals and availability.
- 2Split the experience into three tailored dashboards — admin, mentor and mentee.
- 3Added scheduling and in-platform communication so relationships stay inside the program.
- 4Used Next.js with Supabase and Stripe for a fast, secure, subscription-ready foundation.
- 5Gave admins override control so human judgement can always beat the algorithm.
What we built

Pairs are scored on interests, skills, goals and availability, producing ranked suggestions an admin can accept or adjust.
Guided onboarding
Dynamic profile building that collects exactly the signals the algorithm needs without feeling like a long form.
Role-based dashboards
Separate admin, mentor and mentee views, each surfacing the actions that role actually takes.
Scheduling tools
Availability and session booking built in, so the first meeting gets on the calendar while momentum is high.
Messaging and billing
In-platform communication keeps conversations tracked, and Stripe handles program subscriptions.
The result
Mentr replaces manual pairing with structured, repeatable matching, and gives program admins one place to run onboarding, matching and ongoing engagement.
Program owners can now see participation at a glance and grow a cohort without the workload growing at the same rate.
